Now entering its fifth year, this annual festival initially held in the spring in Edmonton, Alberta provides three full days of DIY community, discussion, activities, hangouts, and performances by the finest “DIY”, “hardcore” and “post-hardcore” bands from Western Canada and beyond. Ghost Throats was initially centered on the budding post-hardcore scene in central Alberta but has reached out to include bands coming out from all over including far wrung cities such as Victoria, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver & Seattle.

The festival runs for 3 days, May 31st to June 1st in Edmonton, June 2nd in Calgary.

Ghost Throats band #3, NEEDS! You know that time you Saw Fucked Up at Sled Island and Pink Eye smashed a pint glass on his head and proceeded to shred through the rest of the set bleeding all over anyone who dared get too close and you thought to yourself “THIS IS THE CRAZIEST BAND I’VE EVER SEEN”. Well, NEEDS is the band that was too crazy to play a Fucked Up show. If anyone remembers singer Sean Orr’s former band, Taxes, you know you’re in for a truly reckless set from a front man who has very little regard for his own well being.Not to say NEEDS is all flash, because if you’ve listened to their Bart Records debut, The Accursed Share, you know these gents are no slouches. Blistering post hardcore influenced punk rock. Fast, frantic, and fun! This will be one for the record books. Do not miss!
